Our goal is to continue fostering good public relations, through education by way of informal pamphlets, publications in the newspaper, and the preparation and distribution of an annual report. An Annual Drinking Water Quality Report is compiled annually with information and statistics about the quality of water produced and delivered by the department. Copies are mailed or otherwise delivered to all consumers and are also available in the administration office.

The water department's administration staff is responsible for processing 8,500 water and sewer bills along with 300 related service accounts.

The staff collects, compiles, and maintains data to produce bills and record revenue receipts.

Permits for water service installations, repairs, and renewals are issued through this office.

The staff of the administration office coordinates services with other City departments and outside agencies including:

  • NYS Department of Health
  • NYSDEC
  • NYSDOT
  • The Development Authority of the North Country (DANC)

Residential water bills are issued quarterly (every three months) on the first of the month and commercial and industrial bills are issued monthly on the first of the month.

Bills are due on the 20th of the month in which they are issued. Charges for both water service and sewer service are normally included in a single bill.

Questions about your bill should be directed to the business office at 785-7757 weekdays, as soon as possible after receiving your bill.

This office should be contacted for information about water service and availability, water and sewer billing questions, water main and service specifications, construction coordination, departmental personnel matters, and media information.
