The Watertown Empire Zone:

The passage of the 2000 State budget has brought with it a renamed and enhanced Economic Development Zones Program. The new name is the Empire Zones Program, and Zone Certified Businesses are now Qualified Empire Zone Enterprises, or “QEZEs”


Long Range Planning

The goals of the Empire Zones Program are to stimulate the creation of new jobs and Investments by offering incentives and to assist a targeted population to take advantage of the new jobs created by addressing their specific human resource development needs

Infrastructure

Public Square has many building facades that are unique, attractive and eligible for certification as "contributing to the District". These contributing building facades are deemed a public asset in the City of Watertown

Zones/Incentives/Grants:

  • LOCAL SALES TAX REFUNDS
  • NIMO RATE REDUCTIONS
  • VERIZON RATE REDUCTIONS
  • CREDIT AGAINST REAL PROPERTY TAXES
