National Grid is currently upgrading the gas main and services on Stone Street, between Massey Street South and Exchange Street.
Stone Street will be reduced to a single lane while work is performed between Massey Street South and Meadow Street South. Furthermore, the section of Stone Street between Meadow Street South and Exchange Street will, at times, be closed to through traffic while site restoration work is performed.
Weather permitting, the work is expected to last about 6 weeks. Signage will be setup and flagmen will be onsite to direct traffic.
Beginning Thursday April 25th, Stone Street, from Massey Street South to Meadow Street South, will be REDUCED TO ONE LANE during construction hours, from approximately 7 A.M. to 6 P.M.
Side streets intersecting Stone Street in the work zone, may be closed at times to do additional gas main excavations. Local residents should make arrangements to park on nearby side streets, when necessary, while this work is underway. The crews will install temporary barricades, signage and have flagmen on-site as needed. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes during construction. If in this area, motorist should exercise extreme caution when encountering work crews and work zones.
